Our research focuses on social transformations, the construction of insecurities and fears, and security management practices.

CECLS produces studies, reports and policy recommendations for the European Parliament and many other national and European institutions on the following themes:

  •  Terrorism and counter-terrorism;
  • Transnational organised crime;
  • Cybercrime;
  • Judicial and police cooperation;
  • The processes of Europeanisation and European borders;
  • Immigration policies and the EU's external relations: 
  • The protection of civil liberties and personal data; 
  • Democracy;
  • Internal security issues, relations with technologies, and crisis exit management.

CECLS has also been an active partner in a number of European Research Framework Programmes.
