About us

The Centre for Conflict, Liberty and Security (CECLS) is a 1901 non-profit association founded in 1990. It seeks to provide a forum for intellectual exchange between political scientists, internationalists, sociologists, anthropologists, lawyers, philosophers, historians and geographers.

The Centre publishes the quarterly journal Cultures & Conflits – Sociologie – Politique – International and co-publishes the journal PARISS with Brill. It also runs the Routledge Studies in Liberty and Security series and is a partner in the Peter Lang Explosive Politics series. The Centre also organises round tables, seminars and public presentations.

The Centre and its researchers are conducting research into the Europeanisation of security processes, as our publications clearly demonstrate. The Centre participates in research programmes and produces consultancy notes, studies and reports for various European institutions.
