In November 2023 and April 2024, the Israeli investigative magazine ‪‪+972 Magazine‪‪ published two articles by Yuval Abraham on the use of artificial intelligence-based systems by Israeli forces in Gaza. Both articles draw attention to the dehumanizing process resulting from the use of these technologies, and to the fact that they are transforming the Israeli war in Gaza into a “factory of mass murder”. ‪‪Cultures & Conflits‪‪ publishes here a French translation of the second article, which appeared in the newspaper ‪‪L’Humanité‪‪. The article is accompanied by an introduction and commentary by Mathias Delori and Christophe Wasinski. The introduction explains how these artificial intelligence-based systems fit into the Israeli security field. The commentary sheds light on the consequences of this development. The main argument is that these new technologies are upsetting the norms of what Mathias Delori has called “liberal violence” in a recent book.‪
